The Poplarville Public School District is an example of performance across the state and nation.  PHS was recently awarded by U.S. News and World Reports bronze medal and ranked as one of the nation’s highest performing schools.  Poplarville School District was recently named an "A" rated district by national testing standards. It is one of only fifteen "A" rated districts in the state.

Poplarville is home to Pearl River Community College, the oldest community college in the state of Mississippi.  Founded in 1909, the college boasts a distinguished history.  CNN Money recently ranked Pearl River among the country’s top 20 in providing students a solid academic foundation on which to build continued education. 

Pearl River has received a series of recognitions such as:
  • ​Top 150 asked to apply for 2015 for the Aspen Prize of Academic Excellence
  • Create a Career website ranks Pearl River as the 23 best community college nationally
